The Brooklyn basedĀ Janus Trio, formed in 2002, will perform at theĀ Atlas Performing Arts Center. Its concert will feature works by Saariaho, Treutin, White, Matalon, Negron and Clift. Named after Janus, the Roman god whose double-faced image peers into the past and the future, the trio plays both mainstream classical music and newly commissioned works by living composers. This all women’s trio of flute, viola and harp has been enthusiastically embraced by the new music community and has already been featured at major new music venues in New York such as Le Poisson Rouge, Joe’s Pub, Roulette, Weill Recital Hall and the Stone. Upcoming projects include a collaboration with Nice Zammuto (the Books) and Jason Treuting (So Percussion) that will premiere in February 2012 at New York’s Ecstatic Music Festival. Janus is also working with Princeton’s Paul Lansky who is composing a new commission for the trio with the generous support of Chamber Music America.
