The Library of Congress presents the Samuel Beckett play, Ohio Improptu, together with the Cygnus Ensemble as the lead off to a new endowment for contemporary music at the Library funded by a bequest from Dina Koston, composer and co-founder of the Theater Chamber Players. Music will include works by Koston, Biscardi, Busoni, and Claman. Following the play, the Cygnus Ensemble will play a work by Frank Brickle and the world premiere of a new song cycle by composer Mario Davidovsky commissioned for this occasion. This event will take place in the Library’s Coolidge Auditorium. The concert and play are free but tickets are required. They are available through TicketMaster for a nominal service charge. A pre-concert presentation for which no tickets are required will take place at 6:15 p.m. in the Whittall Pavilion.
