Peter Gizzi and Trevor Winkfield at Bridge Street Books

Philly the Kid (apriori@slip.net)
Wed, 19 Nov 1997 15:09:28 -0800

For those in the DC, Baltimore, Nor Virginia area:

Peter is a personal longtiem close friend, I would encourage anyone who can
to attend this reading. He is one of the leading poets of this generation
and his work is cutting edge. His readings are very strong and dynamic and
he is very musical in his style!!

> We hope you can join us this Sunday, Nov. 23, at 8 p.m. at Bridge
>Street Books (2814 Pennsylvani Ave. in Georgetown, next to the Four
>Seasons Hotel) for a poetry reading by PETER GIZZI and TREVOR WINKFIELD.
>
> The influence that PETER GIZZI has had on contemporary avant garde
>poetry has been far-reaching. As co-editor of the essential poetry
>magazine OBLEK, and later of the fabulous EXACT CHANGE YEARBOOK, he has
>brought the work of many important writers to the attention of others. As
>the author of books like PERIPLUM, LEDGER DOMAIN, and MUSIC FOR FILMS, he
>has given readers a subtle and profoundly musical lyric poetry.
>
> TREVOR WINKFIELD is perhaps best known as a visual artist--he has
>done book covers for John Ashbery, among others, and the book TREVOR
>WINKFIELD'S PAGEANT features a collection of his paintings. His book of
>poems, IN THE SCISSOR'S COURTYARD, has recently been released, and this
>reading should be an excellent chance to see him profile a hitherto
>less known aspect of his talent.
>
> Hope to see you there!
